ICT Innovations, Information and Communication Innovations, is international series of conferences that serves as a platform for presenting novel ideas and fundamental advances in the fields of computer science and engineering.

ICT INNOVATIONS 2018 Conference Aims and Scope

The main objective of the conference is to bring together academia, researchers, engineers, data professionals, and industry. It will create and manage a vibrant environment where they can share latest discoveries, best practices, and learn about the symbiosis between engineering and life sciences. The conference will promote the development of models, methods and instruments of data science, as well as other aspects of computer sciences, and will provide a unique environment for the presentation and discussion of new approaches and prototypes in joint fields of engineering and life sciences.

The conference will consist of regular sessions with technical contributions (regular papers) reviewed and selected by an international program committee, as well as of invited talks presented by leading scientists. Different workshops will be held in line with the main conference.

The official language of the conference is English.

ICT INNOVATIONS 2018 Publications

All full papers will be included in the conference proceedings that is planed to be published by Springer in Communications in Computer and Information Science Series (CCIS), ISSN: 1865:0929. CCIS is abstracted/indexed in DBLP, Google Scholar, EI-Compendex, Mathematical Reviews, SCImago, SCOPUS. CCIS volumes are also submitted for the inclusion in Thompson Reuters ISI Proceedings.

A revised and extended version of the Best Papers of the Conference might be accepted for publication in a Special Issue of Informatica, after a further peer review stage.

Accepted workshop and short papers will be published in the established and cited web proceedings with DOI numbers. Additional information is available at http://ictinnovations.org/.

This year’s special conference topic is “Engineering and Life Sciences”.

ICT INNOVATIONS 2018 Programme Committee

The ICT Innovations program committee consists of more than 210 distinguished scientists from 55 different countries.

ICT INNOVATIONS 2018 Workshops and Special Sessions

The conference traditionally supports organization of workshops and special sessions. If you are interested in proposing a special session or a workshop, please send your proposal to: slobodan.kalajdziski@finki.ukim.mk or nevena.ackovska@finki.ukim.mk

Paper Submission

Submissions are to be made through the EasyChair Conference Management System.
Authors are invited to submit full papers (12 to 15 pages) in Springer LNCS/CCIS one-column page format (for more information, refer to http://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines). The review process will be a double-blind peer review. Papers must be based on unpublished, mature and original work and must be submitted to ICT Innovations 2018 only. At least one author of each accepted contribution is required to register (registration with conference proceedings) for the Conference. The maximum number of accepted papers per author/co-author is two.

ICT INNOVATIONS Previous Conferences

In the last nine years, the ICT Innovations Conference has established itself as the major summit where participants can share best practices and experiences in academic research and practical applications in a pleasant and motivating environment. The previous ICT Innovations conferences gathered submissions from authors from 30 different countries. Approximately, 70 high-quality papers and ten posters are presented during the conference each year. On average, 30 papers with highest grades are published in Springer conference proceedings.

ICT INNOVATIONS 2018 Topics

The special conference topic is “Engineering and Life Sciences”, and it celebrates a decade of successful ICT Conferences. Technological innovations have become an essential drive for modern life sciences development. With the advent of high-throughput techniques, life scientists are starting to grapple with massive data sets, encountering challenges with handling, processing and moving information that were once the domain of computer scientists and engineers. Nowadays cancer diagnostics introduces novel micro/nano-based technologies that can facilitate detection of cancer biomarkers in early cancer phases, that are more amenable to treatment. Engineering has played a central role in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic instruments, like prosthetic valves, pacemakers, implantable cardioverters/defibrillators (ICDs), and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The non-invasive brain imaging techniques produces massive brain-related data that are a great basis for engineers and computer scientists to gather foundational knowledge of the brain and the nervous system, providing the basis for diagnosing and treatment of some neurological and mental diseases. Robots have become part of life sciences as tools, models, and challenges. Robots are engaged in 3D printing, manipulating lab materials, as well as surgery tools. They are emotional support of a class of patients and elderly. They are engaged in direct brain-robot communication using EEG signals. Genetic agents, on the other hand, can be modeled as nanorobots.

The interleaving of engineering and the life sciences is becoming more imminent and present. Nowadays there is a great synergy between these two seemingly different areas. It is transforming the traditional ways of creation and product assemblies, the educational process, the healthcare and other societal phenomena. However, in spite of the great synergy that exists, there are still many open issues and obstacles that need to be addressed and overcame in order to bridge the gap between life sciences and engineering.

Authors are invited to submit original works in relevant fields, especially if related to:
  • Biomedical Computing, Technology, Engineering and Applications
  • Bioinformatics and bioengineering technologies
  • Standardization in life sciences
  • Genetic engineering
  • Robotics technologies
  • Rehabilitation and assistive technologies
  • ICT in Medicine and Healthcare
  • Intelligent systems
  • Machine learning technologies
  • Data science
  • Information Engineering
  • Business Intelligence
  • Parallel and distributed processing
  • Software Engineering
  • Education in engineering and life sciences

ICT INNOVATIONS 2018 Conference Venue

The conference will be held in Metropol Lake Resort at the coast of Ohrid Lake, seven kilometers south of Ohrid. Metropol Lake Resort’s beautiful setting features 3 hotels, 800 meters of beach frontage, landscaped gardens and pine woods, and fantastic views overlooking the lake and the surrounding National Park Galicica.

Ohrid is the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth-largest city in the country, with over 42,000 inhabitants as of 2002. Ohrid is notable for once having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a "Jerusalem (of the Balkans)". The city is rich in picturesque houses and monuments, and tourism is predominant. It is located southwest of Skopje, west of Resen and Bitola. In 1979 and in 1980 respectively, Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Ohrid is one of only 28 sites that are part of UNESCO's World Heritage that are Cultural as well as Natural sites.
